Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Taskly. Plain-language where we can, precise where it counts.
Last updated: June 27, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legally binding agreement between you and Taskly Technologies Inc.(“Taskly,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), governing your access to and use of Taskly.ca and our related apps, websites, and services (together, the “Platform”).
Taskly is a marketplace for the Greater Toronto Area. Customers (“Posters”) post tasks; independent service providers (“Taskers”) make offers; an accepted offer becomes an escrow-protected booking. A smaller set of curated, fixed-price services sits alongside the open marketplace. The same account can both post tasks and, once approved, work as a Tasker.
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Acceptance & Eligibility
By creating an account, making an offer, posting a task, or otherwise using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. If you use the Platform on behalf of a business, you represent that you are authorized to bind that business.
2. What Taskly Is — and Isn’t
Taskly is a venue that connects Posters and Taskers and provides supporting tools — task posting, offers, messaging, masked calling, escrow payments, and dispute support. We are a technology platform, not a home-services company.
Important
Taskly is not a party to the agreement formed between a Poster and a Tasker, and is not an employer, agency, contractor, or agent of any Tasker. Taskers are independent and decide whether, when, and how to perform a task. We do not supervise, direct, or control the work.
We do not guarantee the quality, timing, legality, or safety of any task, offer, or service, and we do not endorse any user. Any contract for services is solely between the Poster and the Tasker. You engage other users at your own discretion and risk.
3. Your Account
To use most features you need an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information, and keep it up to date
- Keep your login credentials confidential and not share your account
- Be responsible for everything that happens under your account
- Notify us promptly at [email protected] of any unauthorized use or security issue
You may sign in using email, a one-time link, or a supported provider such as Google. One person should hold one account. We may suspend or close accounts that are inactive for an extended period or that breach these Terms.
4. Posting a Task
When you post a task, you agree that:
- Your description, budget, photos, and location are accurate and your own to share
- The task is lawful and does not fall under Prohibited Tasks (Section 15)
- You will respond to offers and questions in good faith and honour an accepted offer
- You are responsible for providing safe access, accurate site details, and anything the task reasonably requires
We review posts before they go live
To keep the marketplace safe, new task posts may be screened by automated tools and a human reviewer before they become visible to Taskers. We may approve, hold, edit for safety, request changes, or decline a post at our discretion. A post under review is not yet live and cannot receive offers.
Removing contact details, prices, or attempts to take the deal off-platform may be filtered or rejected automatically (see Section 14).
5. Making Offers & Working as a Tasker
Becoming a Tasker is a capability you unlock by completing onboarding and being approved. As a Tasker you agree that:
- You are an independent service provider, not an employee or agent of Taskly
- You hold the skills, and any licences, permits, certifications, or insurance the law requires for the work you offer (for example trade licences for electrical or plumbing work, or a food-handler certification for cooking)
- Your offers, profile, rates, and availability are honest and your own
- You will perform accepted tasks safely, professionally, and as agreed with the Poster
- You are responsible for your own tools, transport, expenses, and tax obligations
Tasker accounts move through statuses — pending, approved, suspended, or rejected. We may decline, pause, or revoke Tasker access at our discretion, including for poor reviews, repeated cancellations, safety concerns, or breach of these Terms.
6. Verification & the Verified Badge
To build trust, Taskers may be required to complete identity verification, carried out by us and/or a third-party verification provider.
- A one-time, non-refundable verification fee of $5 CAD (plus applicable taxes) covers identity verification
- On successful completion, the Tasker receives a Verified Badge on their profile
- The fee is non-refundable regardless of the outcome or your decision to stop using the Platform
A Verified Badge means we checked identity at a point in time — it is not a guarantee of any Tasker’s conduct, skill, or current standing. We may revoke a badge or verification if a Tasker breaches these Terms or if new information would have changed the result. We may add, change, or remove verification requirements over time.
7. Payments, Fees & Escrow
Currency. All amounts are in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless stated otherwise.
Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. By paying through the Platform you also agree to Stripe’s terms. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Escrow. For an accepted offer or a curated booking, your payment is captured up front and held in escrow. Funds are released to the Tasker after the work is done and you confirm completion, or automatically if you take no action within 3 days of the Tasker marking the task complete. Holding funds in escrow does not make Taskly a party to the underlying service contract.
Marketplace commission. On marketplace tasks, Taskly retains a commission of 20% of the agreed price (HST-inclusive); the Tasker receives the remainder (about 80%). The commission funds the Platform, payment protection, and support.
Booking fees on curated services. Curated fixed-price bookings may include a trust & support fee (8% of the base price, with a minimum and a cap), and, where applicable, a same-day surcharge. Any fees are shown before you confirm and pay.
Tips. Tips are optional and go 100% to the Tasker.
Authorization. You authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method for the amounts you confirm, including the agreed price, applicable fees and taxes, and any tip.
8. Taxes
Prices may be subject to HST and other applicable taxes, which are shown or added at checkout where required.
Taskers are solely responsible for determining, charging, collecting, reporting, and remitting their own taxes (including registering for and remitting HST/GST where required) on income earned through the Platform. Taskly does not withhold income tax on behalf of Taskers and is not your tax advisor.
9. Payouts to Taskers
Tasker payouts are made through Stripe Connect. To receive payouts, a Tasker must create and maintain a Stripe Connected Account and accept Stripe’s Connected Account Agreement.
- Funds are released from escrow when the Poster confirms completion, or automatically 3 days after the task is marked complete
- Once released, payouts typically reach the Tasker’s account within 1–2 business days, subject to Stripe’s processing times
- Taskly may withhold, delay, or reverse a payout where there is a dispute, suspected fraud, chargeback, or breach of these Terms
10. Cancellations, Refunds & No-Shows
Poster cancellations — marketplace bookings. Cancel any time before your Tasker sets out and the full amount is refunded from escrow. Once a Tasker is en route or has arrived, 80% is refunded and a share of the remainder is paid to the Tasker for their time and travel. Once work is underway, 40% is refunded and the larger share is paid to the Tasker for work performed. These splits reflect the current schedule and may be updated from time to time.
Poster cancellations — fixed-price bookings. Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled start. Inside 24 hours, a flat $25 late-cancellation fee may apply. Once your Tasker is on the way, cancellation is handled through support.
Tasker compensation on cancellation. Where a cancellation entitles the Tasker to a share under the splits above, Taskly pays it out automatically. If a cancellation costs a Tasker something these splits do not cover, contact us — a real person reviews every case.
Tasker no-shows. If a Tasker never arrives, the Poster is refunded 100% from escrow.
Tasker cancellations & no-shows. Taskers who repeatedly cancel accepted tasks, arrive late, or fail to show may be suspended, lose their Verified Badge, or be removed.
If something goes wrong. Because funds sit in escrow until you confirm, you can raise an issue before releasing payment. If a task was not done as agreed, contact us promptly so we can help resolve it — we may facilitate a re-do, a partial or full refund, or release of funds, depending on the circumstances.
Verification fee. The $5 verification fee (Section 6) is non-refundable.
Nothing here limits any non-waivable rights you may have under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2023 or other applicable law.
11. Referrals, Credits & Promotions
We may offer referral rewards and promotional credits. Where a referral program is active, the referrer may receive a credit (for example, $10) once the customer they referred completes their first eligible booking of $100 or more. Credits are non-cashable and apply to future bookings.
- Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and cannot be withdrawn or exchanged for cash
- Credits apply automatically to eligible future bookings and may expire
- We may change, pause, or end any promotion, and may withhold credits we reasonably believe were obtained through abuse, fraud, or self-referral
12. Reviews, Ratings & Your Content
You may post reviews, ratings, photos, messages, profile details, and other content (“User Content”). You are responsible for your User Content and confirm you have the rights to share it.
Reviews and ratings must be honest, first-hand, and based on a real experience. You may not post fake, incentivized, or retaliatory reviews, or manipulate ratings.
You grant Taskly a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, use, reproduce, display, and distribute your User Content for operating, promoting, and improving the Platform. Reviews, ratings, and parts of your profile may be shown publicly. We may screen, moderate, edit for safety, or remove User Content, but we are not obligated to monitor it.
13. Communications & Calls
By using the Platform, you consent to receive communications from us and from other users connected to your tasks — including in-app messages, email, SMS, push notifications, and WhatsApp messages — for transactional and service purposes.
- Calls between Posters and Taskers may be connected through a masking service so your real phone number stays private
- Where call recording is enabled for safety, you will hear a notice at the start of the call
- Marketing messages are sent only with consent as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL); you can unsubscribe from marketing at any time, but we may still send essential service messages
14. No Off-Platform Dealing
The Platform only works if deals happen on it. You agree not to use Taskly to find a counterparty and then arrange, accept, or complete payment off-platform to avoid fees, and not to solicit Taskly users for competing services.
To protect this, we may automatically detect, filter, or remove contact details and off-platform payment attempts from posts and messages. Circumvention may result in fees owed, suspension, or termination.
15. Prohibited Tasks & Conduct
You may not post, offer, or perform tasks that are illegal or unsafe, or otherwise misuse the Platform. Prohibited activity includes:
- Anything illegal, or work requiring a licence/permit you don’t hold
- Tasks involving weapons, illegal drugs, adult or sexual services, or anything that endangers safety
- Providing false, misleading, or fraudulent information, or impersonating someone
- Harassing, threatening, discriminating against, or endangering other users
- Posting fake reviews or manipulating ratings, or creating multiple or fake accounts
- Scraping, reverse-engineering, overloading, or interfering with the Platform or its security
- Arranging payment off-platform to avoid fees (Section 14)
- Uploading malware, or content that infringes others’ rights
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts for violations, with or without notice.
16. Safety & In-Home Services
Many tasks happen in homes. We provide tools to help — verified profiles, masked calling, in-app messaging, reviews, and a 4-digit door code a Tasker confirms on arrival — but you are responsible for your own safety and for exercising sensible judgment.
You acknowledge that in-person services carry inherent risks. Taskly does not insure tasks or users. Taskers are responsible for carrying their own insurance where appropriate. Use good judgment, keep communications and payments on the Platform, and report unsafe behaviour to us promptly.
17. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, and we do not warrant the conduct, quality, or reliability of any Poster or Tasker, or the outcome of any task. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Taskly and its directors, officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
- The acts, omissions, conduct, quality, safety, or legality of any Poster or Tasker
- Disputes between users, or loss of or damage to property during a task
- Lost profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption
- Unauthorized access to, or alteration of, your content or data
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform will not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to Taskly in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) CAD $100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
19. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Taskly Technologies Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your tasks or services, your User Content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
20. Intellectual Property
The Platform — including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and the “Taskly” name and marks — is owned by Taskly or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Platform for its intended purpose under these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, frame, or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without our prior written consent. Feedback you send us may be used without obligation to you.
21. Third-Party Services
The Platform relies on third-party services — including Stripe (payments and payouts), a telephony provider for masked calling, email and notification providers, and mapping. Your use of those features may be subject to the third party’s own terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and are not endorsements.
22. Service Area
Taskly currently operates in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada — including Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, and surrounding municipalities. We may add or change service areas over time. Tasks outside the active service area may not be supported and may be cancelled.
23. Suspension & Termination
You may stop using the Platform and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, for breach of these Terms, suspected fraud or unsafe behaviour, failed verification, legal reasons, or extended inactivity.
On termination, your right to use the Platform ends. Obligations that by their nature should survive — including payment obligations, content licences, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution — will survive.
24. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally:
- 1.Email [email protected] with the details, and we’ll work with you to find a resolution
- 2.If it’s unresolved after 30 days, either party may pursue mediation in Ontario
- 3.Failing that, the dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada
Disputes between Posters and Taskers are primarily between those users; we may help facilitate a resolution but are not obligated to. Nothing in this section removes any non-waivable rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.
25. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will give notice by email or a prominent notice on the Platform before they take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t agree, close your account before the changes take effect.
26. General Terms
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Taskly and supersede prior agreements on the same subject.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. Our not enforcing a provision isn’t a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them, including in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We aren’t liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Electronic communications. You consent to receive notices and agreements electronically.
- Accessibility. We aim to meet our obligations under Ontario’s accessibility legislation (AODA); contact us if you need an accommodation.
